Naxxar Local Council has just launched a new website accessible through naxxar.gov.mt.

The need for a stronger Council presence on the net has been felt for quite some time now.  However many times the Council was faced with a dilemma on whether it is still relevant to have a website when the social media seems to have become the preferred media.  As a matter of fact, the Naxxar Local Council too has a strong presence on Facebook and, even though there is always room for improvement, and despite the lack of resources, there is no doubt that Naxxar Council’s presence on Facebook is one of the strongest from all Local Councils in Malta.

A modern website however still offers lots of new opportunities which till now are still not possible through a Facebook page.  Not only one does not cancel the other, but they should compliment each other.

Through this website the Local Council will be in a much better position to offer online services whilst being able to provide information which is easily accessible.

Furthermore, Naxxar Local Council is aiming to offer a website of Naxxar rather than simply a Council website.  This website will be able to promote Naxxar’s beauty, its History, Culture and its People to attract more tourists.  This in fact goes along well with other Council touristic websites and mobile app “Discover Naxxar”.

The Council is also willing to extend the opportunity to the business community as well as Local NGO’s to promote their activities.  The website in fact will also include a calendar of events for everything happening at Naxxar.

The website will also include regular local news items which shall be automatically posted on Facebook once they are published on the website.  Like many news articles, Naxxar’s news items  offer the public the possibility of posting comments not just on Facebook but also on the article itself.
