Blood Donation at Naxxar

Sette Giunio – National Day (Public Holiday)

Sette Giugno (from the Italian for "Seventh of June") is a Maltese national holiday celebrated annually on 7 June. It commemorates events which occurred on that day in 1919 when, following a series of riots by the Maltese population, British troops fired into the crowd, killing four. This led to increased resistance and support for the pro-Italian parties that had challenged the British presence on the island.

L-Imnarja (Public Holiday)

This feast is one of the oldest feasts celebrated in Malta and Gozo. The Feast commemorates two important Saints in Maltese religious lore, St. Peter and St. Paul. The word luminarja is derived from the Latin word Luminare - to light up. This was the way people manifested their joy in recognition of a particular feast, such lighting being offered by burning bonfires and candles. Santa Marija – Feast of St Mary (Public Holiday)

The Feast of the Assumption, also known as the feast of ‘Santa Maria', is celebrated every year on the 15th of August and marks the ascent into heaven by the Virgin Mary. This popular Maltese ‘festa' is the peak of the summer season of religious village feasts and is celebrated in 7 towns and villages: Għaxaq, Gudja, Ħ'Attard, Mosta, Mqabba and Qrendi in Malta, and Victoria in Gozo. Donations by NGO’s to the Community Chest Fund

This is an annual event held on the Sunday prior to Our Lady of Victory Feast where all local associations meet at one of the clubs, every year on a rotation basis, to present donations to the Community Chest Fund chaired by the President of Malta. The Naxxar Labour Party club will be hosting this year's event.

Naxxar boasts of providing one of the best ground fireworks on the island.

This date commemorates the end of the Great Siege of 1565, the end of the French occupation of Malta in 1800 and co-incidentally enough the armistice of the Fascist regime in Italy in 1943. In the latter, the connection with Malta was two-fold: the bombardments by the ‘Aeronautica' were over and the Italian Navy was brought to Malta to remain moored at St. Paul's Bay until the end of the war. Milied fin-Naxxar

This year’s Ir-Raħal fil-Milied will be held over two days, on the 16th and 17th December. Throughout these two days of activity at Pjazza Vittorja and the surrounding streets, there will be various attractions revolving around Christmas. A stage will be set up for various performances by choirs, bands and singers.
